Gender and Development (GAD) is a development perspective that seeks to address gender inequalities by focusing on the social roles and needs of both women and men. It aims to promote equal access to resources and services and empower marginalized groups, particularly women and children. As part of the commitment to gender-responsive governance and community service, the Moncada Water District conducted an outreach activity centered on the distribution of food packs and health kits. This initiative forms part of the agency’s GAD plan and supports the broader goals of equity, health, and social protection. The food and health kit distribution at the Moncada Water District was more than an act of charity—it was a step toward building a gender-sensitive, caring, and resilient community. By integrating GAD principles into this initiative, the agency not only responded to immediate needs but also demonstrated a lasting commitment to equity, dignity, and empowerment for all. Furthermore, the outreach served as an opportunity to disseminate information about health and hygiene, including menstrual health education, which remains a taboo subject in some communities. By providing this knowledge in an inclusive and respectful way, the initiative helped break gender stereotypes and encouraged openness in addressing women’s health issues. The recipients expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the value of not only the goods distributed but also the sense of care and inclusion demonstrated by the Moncada Water District. The activity strengthened community bonds and promoted awareness of the agency’s commitment to gender equality and public service. It also served as a reminder that development must be inclusive—considering the needs of all genders—and that even small interventions, such as providing sanitary products or listening to women’s voices, contribute to long-term positive change.
